Days 1-3: Assignment:    You will research each poet and do a one page paper on each. You must also analyze and tell me about on of the poet's work. Include the poet's work with your one page about the poet. I want to know:

• Life and influences of each poet
• Style of poetry that the poet is famous for
• One poem that you like from each poet and why?
  • Include the poem but it does not count as part of the one page!

   I will also have one book of poems from Whitman and Frost at my desk so that you can look at their work during this time. (Do one poet a day)

Day 4:   You will look at work by your poet together and begin to make an outline of what you will be presenting in your Power Point. Begin working on your PowerPoint

Day 5:  Power Point Follow your outline and finish your PowerPoint on your poet.

• Information about your poet on 10-15 slides
• Presentation slides clear and creative?
• The life of the poet, his style of writing, and show examples of his/her work in the presentation?

Day 6: Poem Writing Day!  This day is to be spent on the process of creating your own poem.  You have the opportunity to write your own poem similar to one of theirs.  Please include at the top of your poem what poem you have used that is similar to your own and who the writer of that poem is.

• Your poem must be similarto the original version of the poem written by one of the three poets we study.
• It must be written with creativity and effort .

Day 7: Your one page paper will be written on:

• What helped you to write your own poem?
• Was it the information you learned about the poet you studied, an experience you had in nature, or the environment you were in when you wrote the poem?
• What has this assignment helped you learn about poets and why they write poetry?
