“You’ll need more than a camera.”

THE PROJECT:

You will research a photographer whose work interests you.  Your PowerPoint presentation about the life and work of this photographer stored to a folder called students/lab107 as your name. You will produce a photograph of your own that has been inspired by the work of this artist’s work (due at the end of the marking period and labeled as the name of the artist who inspired you!).

Task

1. SELECTION

  • VIEW the work of seven photographers from the list (one weekly)
  • SELECT the ones you find the most interesting to do your research on.

2.  PRODUCE: a storyboard (outline) that explores the photographer’s life and images.  (This will be graded)

  • The storyboard will include the images, text, and page design for each slide of the presentation.
  • Included in your research should be:  
      • A discussion as to why you chose this artist.
      • A discussion about  what characterized this photographer’s work?  Describe the subject, techniques, or projects
      • Important facts about the artists’ life and education. What made them choose their career?
      • Description of how the photographer supported themselves financially.
      • Six to eight images of work that best represent the style or techniques used by the photographer.
      • A discussion of the opinion art critics had (have) and the public reaction to the work.  Include a relevant quote.
      • A quote from the artist discussing his or her own work.
      • A bibliography ( all work must be cited)

3.  PRODUCE: a career photographer PowerPoint presentation.  (Seven)  

§         Keep the report visually simple.

§         Use special effects and clipart to enhance not overwhelm the presentation.

§         Focus on a page design, text information, background, font, and the photographic images to highlight the artist’s style.

 

4.  PHOTOGRAPH :  a photograph that has been influenced by the study of this photographer.(Only one)

      • Use the camera to see the way the artist sees
      • Hand in at the end of the marking period
